Doug Yeoman's opened his post last week, a daily ritual which he does. Little he had a hefty tax awaiting him.
A 78 year old, who survives on his pension was gob-smacked when slammed with a £4.7 billion tax bill issued by the HMRC with no reason explained. HMRC stands for (Her Majesty's Revenue And Customs) they are a segment of the Government responsible for collection of taxes under the queen. Did the Queen pull off a Troll?
Its surprising this man never had a heart-attack as many would if they saw them type of numbers from a government body. Yeoman's, luckily took it with a pinch of salt and knew it was a mistake.
Quoted By Yeoman's;
" I opened the letter and saw the amount and
thought to myself, "I’d better start cutting down on the food bill then". They must think I’m a footballer or something, but I don’t even think that Russian bloke who owns Chelsea could afford that amount! "
thought to myself, "I’d better start cutting down on the food bill then". They must think I’m a footballer or something, but I don’t even think that Russian bloke who owns Chelsea could afford that amount! "
Through many attempts to contact the HMRC, he finally got through to the HMRC, Which confirmed it was a mistake.
The HMRC spokeswomen stated:
" We are very sorry to hear of the problems our customer has had and are very sorry about our error. We don’t talk about individual cases but when we make mistakes we aim to put them right fast and apologise. "
Doug being Doug replied with:
" I think I can probably just about afford the £255, but I think the rest might be pushing it a bit! "
